David wrote We Will Look After Your Star<\/em> after the birth of his granddaughter. It captures the way a new-born child draws in those around it, filling them with an urge to protect, nourish and encourage her, keeping her safe while she shapes her dreams and starts to discover who she is.<\/span><\/p>\n David added: \u201cI also wanted to celebrate the moment when my son became a father and experienced for the first time the emotions I had felt on the day that he was born, as well as the fact that I became a grandfather in that same moment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Like both of her parents, David\u2019s granddaughter was born a European citizen and the song\u2019s title is a reference to the UK\u2019s star on the EU flag, which was so poignantly projected onto the White Cliffs of Dover on the day she lost that citizenship with the message: \u201cThis is our star, look after it for us\u201d. The EU’s Brexit Coordinator, Guy Verhofstadt, gave the response: “We’ll look after your star.”<\/span><\/p>\n Like David\u2019s previous single, Frozen In Time<\/em>, We Will Look After Your Star<\/em> has been produced by Elijah Wolf, singer and songwriter with The Gravity Drive, at his Howl Recordings studio. Fellow Gravity Drive member Ryan Halsey has again engineered the recording. <\/span><\/p>\n Elijah Wolf commented: \u201cI\u2019m a huge fan of David\u2019s songwriting and his new song, We Will Look After Your Star<\/em>, has a special place in my heart. David not only captured the feeling one has to protect and keep the dreams alive of a new family member but also captured for me a particular moment of time after leaving the EU. A beautiful song.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n David sings lead and harmonies as well as playing acoustic guitar and keyboards on the new recording.
