David’s new EP has been produced and engineered by Tom Toomey, lead guitarist with legendary band The Zombies, who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. Recording at Tom’s Blue Door Studio in Yeovil, Somerset, David and Tom have shared musical ideas to create a unique musical sound for David’s distinctive songs.
“With any songwriter who asks me to produce them, I have to feel inspired by their work,” says Tom. “So when David presented me with this collection of tracks, I gladly agreed. It’s been a real joy to work with such a great songwriter and I hope you enjoy these tracks as much as I did working on them.”
The involvement of other leading musicians has also played a key part in bringing the songs to life.
Pete Maxfield’s double bass and Dave Wallace’s percussion provide a gentle underpinning for the songs, while Bill Mudge adds atmosphere with his keyboard playing, supported by Norman Austin on synthesiser.
String arrangements by Martin Emslie and Milly Riquelme enhance the mood and Vivienne Boucherat brings extra sparkle to three of the songs with her harmony vocals.
Finally, Tom Toomey adds the icing on the cake with some cameo solos on electric and acoustic guitars.
